Goal:Improve awareness of career opportunities and the technology used in highway engineering and construction in order to increase the pool of qualified candidates for related positions. Promote the training activities that take place throughout our industry, and solicit needs for additional training programs. Objective:Raise the level of awareness of at least 1,000 Maryland high school students as well as their counselors and teachers annually, through interactive presentations. Serve as a “clearinghouse” for training activities/programs available to industry. Strategies:Host an annual career day event with at least 500 students, along with their teachers and counselors. Host at least 5 engineering outreach events annually at schools with strong math and science programs. Promote training activities available in industry through MdQI website and solicit additional training needs.
